1. Founding Purpose & Academic Vision
Established in 2012, the International Curriculum for Advanced Materials Program (iCAMP) was founded by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) as an all-English master’s degree program. Designed as an integrative academic platform, iCAMP combined rich teaching and research resources across four prestigious colleges—the College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Medicine, and College of Life Sciences—encompassing eight participating departments.
The primary mission of iCAMP was to promote international academic collaboration, attract outstanding global talent, and enhance NCKU’s worldwide visibility in advanced materials science and engineering. The program was dedicated to cultivating distinguished graduate students equipped with five core virtues: Intelligence (i), Confidence (C), Ability (A), Morality (M), and Productivity (P).
2. Program Transition & Closure Timeline
In response to global educational shifts, institutional policy updates, and evolving academic landscapes over time, NCKU MSE has formally initiated the sunsetting (phase-out) process for iCAMP.
Establishment: Founded in 2012
Admission Status: Student recruitment and admissions officially ceased in 2025
Final Program Closure: Scheduled for 2028
3. Recognition & Validity of Degrees
We hereby reassure all graduates and current students that all Master's degrees awarded or to be conferred under the iCAMP program remain fully recognized, accredited, and legally valid by National Cheng Kung University and the Ministry of Education. The phase-out of the program does not in any way affect the official status, academic integrity, or legal validity of your degree qualifications.
4. Welcome Back to Our Alumni
Since its establishment in 2012, the accomplishments and global contributions of our iCAMP alumni across international academia and global industries represent the proudest legacy of this program. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering remains deeply grateful to all students, alumni, and faculty who contributed to iCAMP's successful journey.
iCAMP graduates will forever remain a cherished part of the NCKU MSE community. You are always welcome to stay in touch, connect with our faculty, and visit us whenever you return to campus.
